Steel rolling mills, like most modern industries across the world, are looking to improve efficiency and product quality by investing in technology which has a short return on investment (ROI). One of the key factors in determining the quality of the final product is the scale removal process; scale which isn't properly removed can be combined with the steel billet as it passes through the mill, resulting in defective or lower quality steel.

Building a brand new steel plant from the ground up is no small task, rather one which requires extraordinary amounts of planning and careful engineering. The project by NMDC Ltd. an Indian, state-owned, public enterprise is now on target for completion by the end of 2015. Part of the thin slab production line incorporates a large descaling plant which is being powered by 11 S500 high-pressure pumps supplied by RMI Pressure Systems.

The Kopex group, which is renowned and respected as a supplier of leading mining equipment and technology, is delivering a turnkey solution for the Vladimirskayalongwall coal mine in Russia. Part of this project is the powered roof support system to be installed at the coalface itself. Kopex has awarded the supply of the critical pumping systems to RMI Pressure Systems Ltd., based in Manchester, UK.

As the exploration depths involved in offshore oil production continue to get deeper the development of more complex sub-sea structures, connected by umbilical systems, becomes a necessary part of the production infrastructure. Due to increased pressure on efficiency and reliability it's necessary for umbilical systems to be tested and cleaned at regular intervals and after production. RMI Pressure Systems has developed a new test rig with all the necessary approvals for onshore/offshore use which allows for streamlined cleansing and pressure testing in-situ.

Aluminium is used in a huge variety of products, due in part to the wide range of surface treatments and coatings that can be applied to it as part of the manufacturing process. For one aluminium producing company in Taiwan the demand for these products has led to a huge expansion project to increase production of aluminium plates, sheets and coils. As part of the new installation a high pressure pump unit from RMI Pressure Systems will be used to power the cleaning station on the tension levelling line.

The first S500 pumping system supplied to Shenhua's  Bulianta mine has just completed its first 10 million tonnelongwall without any significant reported service issues. The mine is currently classified as the world’s most productive longwall, reaching a record breaking milestone by producing 25 million tonnes of coal in a year. This is the latest of several RMI systems supplied to the mine since 1998. RMI now has over 110 pumping stations currently operating in China
